Getting Started with Lister Books (For Users)

High-level guide for teammates to use Lister Books features to scan, list, and manage inventory media items.

This guide breaks down the key activities in scanning, listing, and controlling inventory for media items.


User Guide Part 1: Scan-to-Sort Media Items in Lister

  1. If you are not already on the scanning page, click Products in the top navigation menu and select Scan Books from the dropdown menu
  2. Use a barcode scanner to scan book barcodes
  3. Sort books to their destination, as shown in the search results
  4. Continue scanning barcodes to sort items

User Guide Part 2: Scan-to-Sort Media Items in Link

Recommended Workflow: Use a Bluetooth barcode scanner to scan item barcodes 

  1. From the home screen, tap Scan books
  2. Use your Bluetooth scanner to scan a book barcode
  3. Sort the book to the correct destination, based on the search result


Optional Workflow: Instead of a Bluetooth barcode scanner, tap the camera icon to open the device camera, then aim at the barcode until the scan is registered

  1. From the home screen, tap Scan books
  2. Tap the Scan icon on the right side of the search bar
  3. Line up a book’s UPC and wait for the camera to recognize the barcode
  4. Sort the book to the correct destination, based on the search result


User Guide Part 3: Listing Media Items in Lister

  1. If you are not already on the scanning page, click New Product  in the top navigation menu and select Scan to list books from the dropdown menu
  2. Select a supplier for the book
  3. Use a barcode scanner to scan the book barcode. Once a result with “Ecommerce” is returned, you will automatically be moved to the listing screen
  4. Select the condition that matches the book
  5. Add any Condition Descriptions that match the item
  6. Click Save and print media ticket
  7. Slip the printed ticket into the book with the shelf identifier and barcode showing out the top so they can easily be scanned and read later


User Guide Part 4: Adding Media Items to Inventory

Recommended Workflow: Storing by Reshelf in Link

Reshelf in Link with Ring Barcode Scanner (recommended workflow)
  1. Open the Link app and tap Reshelf on the home screen
  2. Scan all media tickets being moved to an inventory location. 
  3. Scan the shelf barcode
Reshelf in Link with Camera
  1. Open the Link app and tap Reshelf from the home screen
  2. Tap the blue scan icon to open the camera app
  3. Line up the media ticket barcode with the camera
    • Once the barcode is recognized, the top of the page will show “Scanned,” and the SKU will show at the bottom of the screen
    • Repeat for all items being moved to the inventory location.
  4. Line up the inventory location barcode in the camera app
  5. Once scanned, products will be moved to the inventory location

Optional Workflow: Quick Reshelf via Lister (Not Recommended)

Follow the steps in this guide to use Lister’s Quick Reshelf tool to add items to inventory.


User Guide Part 6: Picking Media Order Items

Recommended Workflow: Picking in Link

  1. Log in to Link, then tap Pick Orders from the home screen
  2. Select your Media picking profile to only pick media orders
    1. (Optional) Enter how many items you will pick
  3. Tap Start picking
  4. The first item to pick will be displayed on the screen
  5. Navigate to the inventory location shown on the screen
  6. Locate the “Shelf Identifier” code on the shelf that matches the location on the screen
  7. Look at the inventory shelf and find the item with the matching shelf identifier code
  8. Scan the barcode on the printed slip to confirm you’ve picked the correct item
  9. Repeat until all items are picked

Optional Workflow: Printed Pick Lists

  1. Navigate to the Orders page in Lister
  2. Click More Actions
  3. Select Create Pick Lists in the dropdown menu
  4. Select your Media picking profile to only pick media orders
  5. Optional: Change how many items you will pick
  6. Click Print to send the pick list to a standard office printer

Optional Workflow: Printed Pack Slips (Not Recommended)
