Hardware Recommendations for Neatoscan

Recommended and compatible hardware and supplies for Neatoscan Books & Media

Books Hardware

Below is a list of the hardware you will need for each station or set up you may have to utilize the books side of the software best.

Combo Listing and Shipping Station

To both list and ship from one computer, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • Star TSP700
  • Receipt Paper
  • Zebra ZP450
  • 4x6 Shipping Labels
  • USB Scanner
  • Dymo M25 scale

Listing Station

To list from one computer, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • Star TSP700
  • Receipt Paper
  • USB Scanner

Shipping Station

To ship from one computer, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • Zebra ZP450
  • 4x6 Shipping Labels
  • USB Scanner
  • Dymo M25 scale

💡 Note: you will need to be able to print packing slips; you can do this on an 8.5 x 11 printer or on a Star TSP 700 printer. The packing slips do not need to be printed from the shipping station.


All Books Supplies & Recommended Vendors

PC (Windows Computer) - Most Windows computers made in the last 5 years are capable of running Neatoscan. For optimal performance, a PC with an SSD, at least 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. Neatoscan will only run on full versions of Windows. (If you are viewing reports in Excel, 16 GB of RAM is recommended)

Zebra ZP450 & GK420d - We supply drivers and are able to provide support for setting up the Zebra ZP450 and GK420d printers, but other Zebra Label printers may be compatible with Neatoscan.

Star TSP 700 - This printer is unique in that it has the ability to switch out the port type. So you can buy this printer with a serial port, parallel port, or USB port.

⚠️ Note: Our software will only work with the USB port model!

USB Barcode Scanner - Most USB barcode scanners will be compatible with Neatoscan as long as they can be programmed to add a carriage return after every scan.

USB Scale - Most USB shipping scales will be compatible with Neatoscan. However, we recommend DYMO’s M25 or S100 scales the most as it guarantees compatibility.

Receipt Paper - Any thermal receipt paper that is 3 18” wide will be compatible with the Star TSP700II and our templates.

4x6 Shipping Labels - Make sure you purchase direct thermal labels, not thermal transfer.

FBA labels - These labels are 1” x 2 5/8” thermal labels and can be found on Amazon. Make sure you purchase direct thermal labels, not thermal transfer labels.


Collectibles Hardware

Below is the hardware you need for each station with the collectibles side.

Store/Tagging

At the store level, during the tagging process, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • USB Barcode Scanner
  • Zebra ZP450 Label Printer
  • Auction Labels
  • Regular Letter Paper Printer

Quality Control/Sorting

During the quality control or sorting process, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • USB Barcode Scanner
  • Zebra ZP450 Label Printer
  • Auction Labels

Photography (With Mobile App)

If photography is done with mobile phones, you will need the following at your photography station:

  • Android device running Android version 6.0 or higher


Photography (Without Mobile App)

If photography is done with a camera, you will need the following at your photography station:

  • Windows PC
  • Canon EOS or other Tethered Camera
  • USB Corded Barcode Scanner

Listing

For the listing stations, you will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • Zebra ZP450 Label Printer (Only needed if item tags are printed during the listing process and not at the store level or sorting)
  • Auction Labels (Only needed if item tags are printed during the listing process and not at the store level or sorting)
  • USB Scale
  • USB Barcode Scanner

Shelving/Picking

The shelving and picking team will need the following:

  • Zebra TC20-25


Shipping

The shipping station will need the following:

  • Windows PC
  • USB Barcode Scanner
  • Zebra ZP450 Label Printer

All Collectibles Supplies & Recommended Vendors

Auction Labels - Auction labels are 3.5” x 1.25” labels with a hole punch on the side. You can order through neatoscan.com using the order request form linked below to purchase

4x6 Shipping Labels - Make sure the shipping labels you purchase are direct thermal labels and not thermal transfer.

Zebra TC20-25 - These android based scanning phones pair with our mobile app and allow you to pick orders and shelve items easily.

Android Device - Any Android device with a good camera running Android version 6.0 or higher is ideal for mobile photography of listings.

  • Pixel 6a (budget phone, older model, great camera)

  • Pixel 7a (budget phone, newish model, great camera)

  • Samsung A54 (budget phone, new model, good camera)

Camera - Canon EOS Cameras are able to tether to computers for near-instant file transfer. Other Tethered cameras would work too.

Regular Printer - Any printer that allows you to send prints from your computer and can print on 8 1/2” x 11” paper will work. This will be used if you want to print reports or manifests.
