How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication
Overview
To protect your account, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required for all users. MFA adds an extra layer of security by verifying your identity when logging in.
You can choose one of two MFA methods:
You'll be prompted to verify your identity:
- Every 30 days
- After updating your email address
- If a security issue is detected
An admin can reset the MFA authentication method for a user.
Option 1: Email Authentication
First time set up
- Log in to Lister
- Select “Use Email”
Note: If Email Verification" is greyed out and can't be selected, please enter an email address on the account first.png?width=477&height=463&name=image%20(1).png)
- Check your email inbox for a message from no-reply@uprightlabs.com or no-reply@solutionsitw.com containing your verification code
- Copy the verification code
- Return to the login screen and enter the code into the verification field

- Once entered, you’ll be logged in and MFA will be enabled for your account
💡Tip: The verification code email should arrive within a few minutes. If you don't see it, check your spam or junk folder.
Future Logins
- Log in to Lister
- When MFA is triggered, a verification code email is automatically sent to you
- Check your inbox for the code from Upright Labs
- Enter the code into the verification field on the login screen
- Once entered, you'll be logged in
Option 2: Authenticator Application
First time set up
- Log in to Lister
- Select “Use Authenticator App”

- A QR code will appear on your screen:

- Open your authenticator app and choose Scan a QR code
- Point your phone's camera at the QR code to link your account
- Enter the 6-digit code displayed in your authenticator app into the verification field
- Once entered, you'll be logged in and MFA will be enabled
Future Logins
- Log in to Lister
- When MFA is triggered, open your authenticator app

Retrieve the current 6-digit verification code for Lister
- Enter the code into the verification field on the login screen

Once entered, you’ll be logged in
💡 Tip: Codes refresh every 30 seconds, so be sure to use the most recent one.
Resetting the Authentication Method
If you need to reset the authentication method for a teammate for any reason, admins can reset a user's MFA under Team > Teammates.
Click "Edit" next to the teammate that needs to reset their MFA method, then:
- Click the orange "Reset MFA" button
- Click the green "Reset MFA" button to confirm
- Click the blue "Update teammate" button

💡 Tip: In addition to the admin role, a custom role with the permission to "manage teammates and roles" will also have access to "Reset MFA" for teammates.
