How to View Channel Options and Overrides
Channel options and Overrides allow fine-tuning of how your Etsy listing is priced and optimized for Etsy search results.
- Scroll to the bottom of the listing page when creating or editing a listing to see the channel options tab
- By default, the listing page shows the Channel Options. Click “Overrides” to move to that tab. Learn more about overrides
💡 Operational Tip: Listing Strategies, Default Etsy Admin Settings, and Builder Templates will automatically fill out most of these details, but they can be overridden manually.
Channel Options
Channel Options are used to control specific fields in the Etsy Listing store and can be used to override default settings from a listing strategy.
- Category: Override the category selected when first creating the listing
- Shipping Profile: Select or override your Etsy Business Shipping Policy for the listing
- Return Policy: Select or override your Etsy Business Return Policy for the listing
- Price: Set or override the price for the listing
- Quantity: Set how many of the item you have available to sell
- Who Made It?: Indicates how the item was sourced, in most cases, this will be “Someone else” unless you specifically designed and created the item
- When was it Made?: Select the year the item was made, Vintage items will all be before 2006.
Note: Etsy has strict selling policies on listed items made by someone else (Who Made It?) and will reject newer listings made after 2006 - Type: Select if your item is a physical item (default), a digital download item, or a combination of both
Note: The beta release of Etsy for Lister only supports physical items - Is Supply: Indicates if the item is a tool or supply to craft other items, or a finished product.
- Is Taxable: Indicates if an item is subject to your Etsy store's tax rates
Overrides
Overrides are fields that will change the title or description that are automatically filled out while listing a product. Clicking on the padlock icon to the right of each field allows manual adjustments to the title or description.
- Title: This will overwrite the tile created during the initial listing process if it needs additional changes
- Description: This will overwrite the Lister product description. Similar to the Title override, it will allow the Etsy listing to contain a different description than the description given to the product in Lister
