Goodwill Bluebox Warehouse Workflow
Optimize Your Workspace for Efficient and Accurate Processing
Written by Jonathan Conda
Overview
Bluebox works a little differently than most products that pass through your facility. There is no need to photograph or describe items, but the three core steps of the processing flow should remain constant.
Table of Contents
Step 1: Inspect and Sort
Inspect
-
Inspecting is the most important role in the Bluebox production process as it improves the customer experience and helps generate more demand and sales
-
Ensure all accepted clothing is free of damage or signs of excessive wear
-
Assign an associate with an eye for quality or management to lead the inspection process
-
Things to look for: Stains, rips, tears, loose threads, broken elastic, holes, scratched or otherwise damaged or discolored leather, missing soles, and any other damage of a low quality garment
Sort
-
Remove all unfit items from the production process
-
Sort items into labeled totes according to size and gender
-
Errors in Sorting result in complaints and lost sales revenue

Step 2: Quality Control
-
A final quality control step is imperative to maintaining the quality standards of the Bluebox brand
-
To streamline the process, the quality checker should take full totes out of the sorting area and replace it with an empty bin for the sorter
-
Triple-check each garment for damage
-
Verify sizes and genders of all items in the tote are correct
-
Upon completion move totes to the associates assigned to packing boxes
Step 3: Packing
-
Take items from the quality control phase and check the quality one last time
-
‘Curate’ the items to fit the Mystery Box type
-
Ensure each box has 3-4 great pieces
-
Check our brands list for more info on great pieces to make each box shine.
